Game Reports - 2007 Spring League

Championship Game:

Boobie Miles came into the Division 1 championship game of the Spring 2007 League looking to pick up it’s third championship in a row.  However, Balls Deep stood in-between Boobie Miles and the goal they had in mind from the start of the season.  Boobie Miles knew that they had to play in the championship game against their nemesis Balls Deep without their all-pro start DT Greg Kinsey who was out of town for the weekend.  Needless to say Boobie Miles had its work cut out for them if they were to officially be declared a dynasty.  The game started off a little shaky for Boobie Miles.  Maybe it was the excitement of the championship game, maybe it was the early 12 o’clock start to the game, or maybe it was the plethora of tequila shots the team took the night before… either way Boobie Miles found themselves on defense trailing 22-6 in the first half.   However, team captain WR/FS Matt Trainor called the defense together and told the team that the only way they could get back in this game was if they stopped Balls Deep from scoring.  Lead by WR/DT John Hurley (who had the un-envious task of filling in the shoes for Kinsey), CB Joe “Lockdown” Bolino, just off the injury list CB Christopher “Pazz” Parziale, WR/SS Donavan Brown, and Trainor the defense responded to the captain and did not allow another point scored all half.  With the defense doing everything it could to keep Boobie Miles in the game Player/Coach QB Pat Sheehan decided it was time to start the comeback.  While C Michael “Beef” Geary battled at the line of scrimmage and held any attempt of a pass rush off, Sheehan connected on TD strikes to Donavan, Hurley, and Trainor to end the half.  The offense started clicking on all cylinders and Boobie Miles went into halftime with its first lead at 28-22.  Once Boobie Miles had the lead they never looked back.  The defense continued to stymie Balls Deep in the second half and never again let them get within 8 points.  They also picked up 3 interceptions on the day (2 by Paz and 1 for a TD by Hurley).  In the second half offensively Boobie Miles could not be stopped.  Sheehan went on to throw TD passes to Donavan and Hurley with ease and when the day was over all 3 receivers had at least 1 TD and a 2-point conversion on the day.  After a shaky start Boobie Miles went on to dominate the championship game and came away with a 64-42 victory.  This was the 3rd game in the playoffs where Boobie Miles pulled off a 20+ point victory.  It is now quite clear that Boobie Miles is in fact a dynasty and is the greatest franchise in the history of Hockeytown Flag Football and arguably the greatest team in the history of all of flag football.  The only question left is, ‘Is there a team out there who can challenge Boobie Miles?’  The answer to that question is no.  After the game WR/DT John Hurley was named Division 1 Championship Game MVP.  Hurley, modest as always, gave the credit to his teammates and went on record as being proud to be part of a great team.  Look for Boobie Miles to bring the championship celebration to a city or town near you.

Playoff Game #2: Semi-Final -

Boobie Miles entered the semi-final game in a strange position, they were the underdogs.  They were matched up against the Re-up Gang who was bigger, stronger, and faster.  However, Boobie Miles never once considered themselves underdogs and came out with something to prove.  The game began in a stalemate and defensive struggle.  Both teams were not moving the ball on offense and Re-Up Gang scored first 10 minutes into the game.  However, that would be the only lead the Gang would have on the day.  On the next player Player/Coach QB Pat Sheehan hit SS/WR Donavan Brown on a full field TD to tie the game and then hit converted CB Joe Bolino for the two point conversion to take the 8-6 lead.  After taking the lead Boobie Miles never looked back.  Sheehan was able to hit CB/WR John Hurley, FS/WR Captain Matt Trainor, and Donavan on 2 TDs each on the day.  Sheehan was able to put up the impressive numbers on the day due to the time he had in the pocket provided by C Michael “Beef” Geary.  The play of the day had to be a TD caught by Trainor which was deflected numerous times by Hurley and Donavan until caught for 6 by Trainor in the end zone.  This play just showed that Boobie Miles wanted the win more than the other team did.  Not to be outdone by the offense, Boobie miles defense also shined on this day by shutting down the Re-up Gang.  DT Greg Kinsey continued to be a force to be reckoned with and harassed the other team’s QB all game and all members of the secondary played superb.  After realizing the game was out of hand Re-up Gang tried to resort to fighting since they couldn’t win by just playing football.  However, Boobie Miles was able to stay focused and brush off the physical threats and is now anxiously awaiting their opportunity to defend their back to back championship in the finals next weekend.  Look for Boobie Miles to be matched up with their nemesis Balls Deep in the championship game next Sunday at noon.

Playoff Game #1: Quarterfinal -

Boobie Miles opened up the 2007 playoffs like a team on a mission.  They overpowered North Shores Finest from the start and this was never even a contest.  Boobie Miles started off the game on defense and DT Greg Kinsey set the tone for the day by proving once again he is unblockable and by constantly pressuring the QB.  FS/WR Captain Matt Trainor broke up the 3rd down pass and allowed Player/Coach QB Pat Sheehan and the explosive offense onto the field.  Do to an abundance of time provided by C Michael “Beef” Geary, Sheehan was able to connect on TD strikes to CB/WR John Hurley and SS/WR Donavan Brown.  One scary moment on the day was when Donavan caught his final TD pass and was pushed into the boards.  Donavan injured his ribs on the play and is listed as day to day going into the semi final game.  After the injury many wondered who would fill in for DBrown.  But the team player CB Joseph “the Broseph” Bolino stepped up and hailed in 2 receiving TDs and 2 two point conversions.  Boobie Miles was able to dominate on both sides of the ball and all members of Boobie Miles were able to contribute.  John Hurley, who converted to safety after the injury had the play of the game with a leaping 1 handed interception.  Even Sheehan, who does not hide his disdain for defense, filled in at corner after the injury and showed how the only I on this team is in the word Boobie.  The only disappointment on the day was the opponents, North Shore’s Finest.  North Shore’s Finest met Boobie Miles one time before and there was a heated exchange which resulted in a member of Boobie Miles being kicked in the head.  Well Boobie Miles did not forget this and even though North Shore’s Finest guaranteed victory, Boobie Miles beat them like a red headed step child.  Boobie Miles moves on to the semi-finals and will match up with the Re-up Gang who were all quoted after the game at knowing Boobie Miles’ weaknesses and look to exploit them.  Look for Boobie Miles to come out with something to prove next week as they continue their march for a three peat.

Game #12 -

The regular season finale matched up Boobie Miles with John’s Oil.  It was a bad week for John’s Oil to be in this game as Boobie Miles was out for blood after last week’s loss.  Player/Coach QB Pat Sheehan knew that Boobie Miles needed to get back on the winning track before the playoffs started and he connected on a personal best 9 TD passes on the day.  He was able to hit WR/CB Joe Bolino for 1 TD, WR/FS Captain Matt Trainor for 2, and WR/SS Donavan Brown for 6 TDs on the day.  Outside of his 6 TDs, Donavan was also able to throw a TD pass to Trainor and record 5 interceptions on the day on defense.  Donavan Brown, the Boobie Miles Balla, was able to take one of the picks for six.  Together the duo at safeties (Donavan & Trainor) combined for 6 picks on the day.  DT Greg Kinsey continued his dominating play at the line and recorded his season high 10th and 11th sack of the day.  He also had his second safety of the season which gave Kinsey the team lead for the season.  In a last minute acquisition C/CB Ryan Sheehan was picked up to play for a depleted Boobie Miles squad.  The team was missing start WR/CB John Hurley who was out of town and WR/CB Pazz who is still out with a separated collar bone.  Ryan was able to fill in excellently and dominated both the line of scrimmage and the defensive secondary.  All in all a solid day for the 6 Boobie Miles players who could make the game in a dominating 80-24 victory.  80 points shattered the points score record and the team will use this game as a great stepping stone while Boobie Miles awaits the playoffs and the opportunity to pull out the 3-peat.

Game #11 -

Boobie Miles had a hearbreaking loss on a last second TD 36 - 32.  It was a hard fought game, but due to some questionable non-TD calls by the refs.  Although Boobie Miles is 100% at fault for allowing the game to be as close as it was anyways, we still should have won.  We will use this loss as motivation over the next few weeks as Boobie Miles looks for the 3-peat in Hockeytown USA Championships.

Game #10 -

This week the Walltech Warriors came to town sporting the 2nd best record in the league and just mere points out of 1st.  So, Boobie Miles had to come in and make a statement that they are the best team in the league.  Boobie Miles bursted out of the gates and into a 44 - 6 halftime lead.  The 2nd half was more like a tease for Walltech as they thought they were coming back on Boobie Miles.  Little did they know that Boobie Miles was trying about as hard as President Bush tries to speak understandable sentences.  The final score was 58 - 37 and Boobie Miles stayed atop the league with a record of  9 - 1.

Game #9 -

Boobie Mile won a hardfought battle against Lights Out.  There was competition for the 1st time all season as they managed a 38-32 victory and moved into 1st place in the standings.

Game #8 -

Week 8 almost started and ended with a forfeit as Boobie Miles had only 4 players at the start of the game.  Thankfully, Donavan showed up in time to make 5 and Boobie Miles started the game quite shorthanded.  Pazz showed up about 2 minutes into the game to make 6 players for Boobie Miles.  Fans were concerned that Boobie Miles wouldn't be able to take home a victory with so little players, but Boobie Miles battled through adversity once again and took home the W by beating Primetime 50 - 12.  QB Sheehan threw 7 TDs, WR/SS Donavan hauled in 1 TD and had 5 INTs.  CB/WR Pazz had 1 INT and 2 TD receptions.  WR John Hurley caught a season high 4 TDs and deflected numerous passes while playing DT.  Captain FS Matt Trainor had 1 INT plus played unbelievably well at C.  CB Joe Bolino had 1 two-point conversion and locked down the opposing receivers as he usually does.  The team defense was awarded a sack as well.  Primetime was doomed from the start as Boobie Miles came out firing and didn't stop until the buzzer sounded.

Game #7 -

Week 7 was more like a walk in the park than an actual game for Boobie Miles as they sent Big Deal packing when they smoked them 56 - 6.  This game included many easy TDs and INTs.  The week before was Easter's bye week and Boobie Miles took advantage of that by eating as much as they could that Sunday as to bulk up for week 7's game.  It worked wonders and QB Pat Sheehan turned over the reigns late in the game to WR Donavan and was thrown his 1st receiving TD of his career.  C Beef  blocked all oncoming defenders and even managed to catch his 2nd career TD.  CB Joe Bolino pulled in a nice pick and would have had another except for the fact that Captain Trainor wanted in on some of the defense action and stuck his hands in on a ball that Joe would have had and knocked it down.  WR Donavan caught 3 TDs, had 1 INT, 1 two-point conversion & had 1 passing TD.  Captain FS Matt Trainor played a phenomenal game on defense by not allowing 1 deep pass all game long, he also caught a 2-pt conversion.  WR/CB Pazz had a decent game by pulling in a 2-pt conversion and snagging a pick for 6 until he pulled a "Pazz" by getting injured as he does every god damn game.  If I were the captain of Boobie Miles I would bench Pazz until his testicles decended and he becomes a man instead of acting like he has a vagina getting injured every play.  Also, WR Cheech showed up for the 1st time since week 2 and sparked Boobie Miles to their 4th straight victory by catching 2 TDs and a 2-pt conversion.

Game #6 -

Week 6 was a game that felt more like a practice as Boobie Miles toyed with the Flaggits in an easy win.  QB Pat Sheehan threw a career high & Hockeytown record 8 TD passes.  FS Captain Matt Trainor had 2 INTs and a full length of the field TD catch in which he juked the defender out of his L.A. Lights.  Chris Pazz who was just recently moved to 3rd WR because of his lackluster play at CB shined in his new rold and had 3 two-point conversions and a TD catch as well.  Donavan & Hurley once again showed their All-Pro abilities in hauling in the other 6 TDs (4 & 2 respectively).  C Beef even showed up to the party with an amazing fingertip grab of a 2-point conversion.  The secondary played phenomonal, while every defender had at least 1 pick except for the Broseph who failed to get a pick.   Boobie Miles climbed just a little higher in the rankings this week, they are up to #2 and are 5-1 this season.

Game #5 -

40-38 victory over Backdoor Post.  This team scored over 50 points in every game so far coming in and over 70 in all but one.  They also beat the team that beat us (Ravens) the week before.  We were down 26-12 at halftime and came back to get the victory.

Game # 4 -

53-26 victory over We have butter fingers.  This was the game after our first loss in 12 games and we were out for blood.

Game # 3 -

There will be no game report because Boobie Miles has boycotted the Game Report for Week 3 due to their rage over the pathetic refereeing during the game in which they lost.

Game # 2 -

The second game of the regular season was merely a practice for Team Boobie Miles, as they smoked B Team 58 - 0.  B Team lost the game, their dignity, and not to mention the fact that they were left with skid marks in their boxers.  QB Pat Sheehan led a charge that not even Jesus himself could have stopped.  He threw TD after TD and even threw himself in their for a little defense.  FS/WR Captain Matt Trainor gave the fans a show as he ripped 2 INTs and caught 2 TD passes.  CB/WR Joe Bolino was the only Team Boobie Miles player left hanging his head after this monumentous victory.  He disappointed everyone with an end zone-to-end zone pass that he dropped because of his lack of concentration.  Not to mention the 3 INTs that he just couldn't muster up the energy to grab.  He may have been benched for this week's upcoming game except for the fact that Team Boobie Miles will be shorthanded.  CB/WR Chris Pazz made his first appearance in over 6 months due to a team ordered suspension.  He made quite the impression for someone whose body reminds you of a 50 year old man.  He pulled down 1 INT and caught a TD pass as well.  He even made a spectacular, although, fairly useless diving flag pull to end the game.  He was almost suspended by the league for profane language and bitching and moaning during the game.  WR/CB/SS John Hurley used his tremendous height to reel in balls that only he could grab.  He is well on his way to taking home the MVP honors in 2007.  Although,  SS/WR Donavan Brown brought the shock and awe to the field when he caught TDs plus threw for 1 TD.   DT Greg Kinsey turned down an offer to play DE for the New England Patriots just to stay with Team Boobie Miles to win Back-to-Back-to-Back Championships.  He recorded 2 sacks, one of which was a safety.  Rookie C Geno came to play as he didn't allow a defender to even graze QB Pat Sheehan's jersey.  He was highly touted coming out of college and Boobie Miles management recognized that as they traded their 1st, 2nd, & 3rd round picks to move up to the #1 spot to draft this stellar C.  So all in all, Boobie Miles played well with the exception of CB/WR Joe Bolino.

Regular Season Opener -

The 2007 regular season kicked off with a match up between two teams that were pre-season favorites to take home the Spring 2007 championship.  Boobie Miles looked to ride the winning streak from the fall season and hoped to defend its back to back championship.  Salisbury came into the game and due to scheduling had never played Boobie Miles before and also had never lost a flag football game before.  So it goes without saying that emotions were high for this early season match up.  However the game did not live up to the pre-game hype as Boobie Miles handed Salisbury its first loss rather easily.  Boobie Miles was lead by WR/SS Donavan Brown who for the second week in a row earned the Hero distinction.  The Boobie Miles Balla caught 3 TD passes and had two interceptions on defense.  Donavan also took a lateral from CB Joe "Lockdown" Bolino for a defensive touchdown after the Broseph made the interception.  "Sexy Rexy" Bolino was out to prove that the play in last years championship game was no fluke and was able to help put points on the board for the defense.  C Michael "Beef" Geary returned to his All-Pro form after being named the Goat in the exhibition game as he provided ample time in the pocket for Player/Coach QB Pat Sheehan.  One has to wonder if Beef gave 100% of the effort in the exhibition game since he only seems to show up for big gme.  Outside of hitting Donavan for 3 TDs, Sheehan also connected on 2 TD strikes to WR/CB John Hurley and 1 to Joe for a grand total of 6 for the day.  Along with the 2 TD catches, Hurley also caught the only two 2-point conversions of the day and was named the Offensive Boobie of the Week.  FS Matt Trainor promised to have the defense ready for the match up after paparazzi leaked a rumor that members of the defense were out celebrating Boobie Miles member Mike Smiley's birthday the night before.  Captain Trainor proved to be a man of his word as the defense held Salisbury to just one touchdown each half.  Every member of the secondary exhibited extremely tight coverage but the star who shined the brightest for the defense was DT Greg Kinsey.  Kinsey provided constant pressure on the opposing QB and never allowed him to get in rhythm.  He picked up his first sack of the season, batted down one pass at the line of scrimmage, and even picked up his first interception of the year.  "G-smooth" once again proved that he can not be blocked.  On a day that saw Boobie Miles dominate in a 46-12 victory the only sour note was WR Michael "Cheech" Marron.  The "Manimal" did not do anything particularly bad but he did not have any catches on the day.  After setting the bar very high for expectations for the season Boobie Miles fans hope that Mike can return to form.  All things said Boobie Miles started the season off right with a dominating victory.  They sent a message to the league that they are the 2 time defending champions for a reason.

Exhibition Game -

We crushed the Flaggits 70 - 0 in the exhibition game before the regular season begins.  Donavan pulled in 4 INTs and scored a couple TDs.  The whole defense took home the Def. MVP award.  We are like caged bulls ready to stampede the competition to win our 3rd straight championship.  Next week we take on Salisbury, they have gone unbeaten in 3 straight seasons.
