Championship Game vs. Capital
Punishment -
The
Championship game for the Fall 2006 Flag Football league came down to Boobie Miles vs. Capital Punishment. These two teams met previously in the season and Boobie Miles came home victorious. However, Capital Punishment had a few new faces on there squad and rumors of ringers being brought in for
the playoffs were floating around the arena. For the championship game, Boobie
Miles had a 9 man rotation. Player/Coach QB Pat Sheehan led the offense along
with WR John Hurley, WR Donavan Brown, and WR Craig Iverson and was protected all game by C Michael “Beef” Geary. Defensively Boobie Miles was lead by FS Captain Matt Trainor, DT Greg Kinsey, CB Joe
Bolino, CB “Big” Pete Feeley, and Donavan/Hurley splitting the SS duties.
The lone man missing from the 10 man roster was CB Chris “Pazz” Parziale who could not attend the championship
game due to personal reasons. The championship game kicked off with Boobie Miles
on defense. The defense set the tone for the championship game and held Capital
Punishment to a 3 and out providing excellent field position for the offense. Sheehan
hit Donavan for a quick touchdown and then connected with Hurley for a 2 point conversion and Boobie Miles jumped out to an
8-0 lead. After taking this lead, Boobie Miles never looked back. CB Joe, who was benched during the previous game and was named the Goat for the semi-finals, came up with
his first of 4 interceptions on the day on the next series. Broseph was very
angry about being benched and came out a new man recording tackles and picking off any ball in his direction. Joey even took one INT to the house for his first pick for six on the season. The numerous tackles and 4 interceptions were the reason why young Joseph was named Defensive Boobie of
the Week for the championship game. The other members of the defense also brought
there A-game as DT Kinsey provided constant pressure on the opposing QB, converted CB Big Pete picked up his first INT of
the season, FS Trainor came away with two key pass break ups, and the platoon at SS of Donavan and Hurley blanketed defenders
all day. Not to be outdone by the defense, Boobie Miles’ offense also came
to play in the championship game. QB Sheehan connected on TD strikes to each
of his 3 receivers. Capital Punishment attempted to match up man to man against
the receivers but Hurley, Donavan, and Iverson were all far superior to their opposition.
Hurley came away with numerous TD and 2-pt catches on both jump balls and full court passes and Iverson caught the
last TD of the season. After catching the last TD and winning his second championship
in a row Craig Iverson announced his retirement from flag football, going out on the top of his game. Each receiver was great; however, Donavan brought home the Offensive Boobie of the Week award as he scorched
the secondary for numerous TDs and could not be tackled in the open field due to his matrix-like moves. One player and position that often gets overlooked is the C Beef.
Beef held off any attempt at a pass rush by the other team and battled the entire game.
The time he provided Sheehan in the pocket gave the QB ample opportunity to put up the impressive numbers. Beef’s hard work in the trenches is rewarded by him receiving the Hero award in the Championship
game. All in all it was a dominant victory in the championship game just like
Boobie Miles had been doing all season. Boobie Miles assured the back to back
championship with a 54-32 victory. Since there really wasn’t a team that
provided any sort of challenge against Boobie Miles this entire season the Goat award for the championship game goes to the
other teams in the league. Boobie Miles is a dominant flag football force and
even though they show up to the game painfully hungover, they are able to pull off the dominant victories week in and week
out. Look for these superstars of the flag football arena to return in 2007 and
attempt to defend their championship again. Boobie Miles will be looking for
a 3-peat and is well on its way to starting a dynasty.
Semi-Finals vs. Lyon Waugh Auto Group -
Boobie Miles kicked off the playoffs
matched up against the Lyon Waugh Auto Group which was the only team in the league to have a winning record against Boobie
Miles in the regular season. However, Lyon Waugh's victory came as a result of a forfeit so Boobie Miles wanted to teach
this team a lesson for handing them a loss. Boobie Miles started the game on offense and WR Craig Iverson returned to
the grid-iron after missing a few weeks for the playoff run. Iverson's numerous catches, TDs, 2-point conversions, and
inspiration by actually showing up earned Craig the Offensive Boobie of the Week award. Besides Craig, Player/Coach
QB Pat Sheehan connected on TD strikes to WR/SS John Hurley as well as WR/SS Donavan Brown. For the first game all season
Boobie Miles had all of the members of the #1 offense on the field as all-pro C Michael "Beef" Geary held off any attempt
of a pass rush and provided Sheehan plenty of time to connect on numerous TD passes to each of his 3 star receivers.
On the defensive side of the ball DT Greg Kinsey picked up where he left off all regular season, causing constant pressure
and havoc to the opposing QB. Kinsey's pressure caused an interception by Hurley, multiple pass deflections by FS Captain
Matt Trainor, and he was able to match his regular season sack total by picking up 4 in the game. This overwhelming
dominance at the line earned Kinsey the Defensive Boobie of the Week award. Since Kinsey and Beef were both occupying
their positions, C/DT "Big" Pete Feeley was forced to play a new position of CB. Many questioned how Boobie Miles was
going to respond to the personnel in new positions. However, Big Pete erased all doubt as he had multiple pass deflections
and lead the team in tackles. Big Pete's extraordinary play at an unfamiliar position earned him the Hero award for
the game. Boobie Miles offense and defense was flagged for a holding penalty. Captain Trainor noticed Broseph's
lackluster play and knew of his likelihood to question an official's call so he benched the star cornerback. Player/Coach
Sheehan finished the game at corner wich showed how badly Joey deserved to be benched because Sheehan despises playing defense.
Little Joseph was not happy about being benched and did not take the news well. Joe's penalty and first ever benching
in the history of Boobie Miles earned him the Goat award for the game. Outside of the run in with "Lockdown", Boobie
Miles looked flawless in their first game of the playoffs and pulled off a dominant 60-24 victory. The only player missing
from the 10-man roster for the game was CB Chris Parziale who got lost in Maine, but was there in spirit. This victory
earned Boobie Miles the right to play in the championship game and defend the title from last season. Many fans wondered
how Joe would respond to not only being benched by Captain Trainor, but also how he would respond to playing a team where
a wide receiver threatened to knock his head off only 4 weeks earlier. Only time would tell as Boobie Miles prepared
to match up with Capital Punishment in the 2006 Fall League Flag Football Championship.
Regular Season Finale -
The regular season finale featured Boobie Miles
matched up with the same team they played in the regular season opener, REV. Boobie Miles started the game on offense
and the first play of the game saw Player/Coach QB Pat Sheehan connect with WR/CB Joe Bolino on a full field TD. Boobie
Miles jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. The defense also started off the game on fire for Boobie Miles
as WR/FS Captain Matt Trainor picked off a full field pass on Boobie Miles' own goal line to force the first of 2 turnovers
of the day. Captain Trainor's INT as well as tackles, pass break-ups, and the fact that Kinsey already won the Hero
award earned him the Defensive Boobie of the Week award. WR/SS Donavan Brown showed his heart and dedication to Boobie
Miles in this game. Donavan bumped heads with a player on the other team and busted his lip open. After seeking
medical attention Donavan returned to the game to connect on a TD pass from Sheehan, but also crashed into the boards making
the catch. Donavan was then forced to the sidelines for the remainder of the game due to the busted lip and what team
doctors are calling bruised ribs and a contusion of the spinal column (he will be back in time for the playoffs). Boobie
Miles was then left with 5 players who had to finish the game Ironman style, playing both sides of the ball.
C/DT Greg Kinsey made his offensive debut of the season and played an unfamiliar position of C for the first time in his flag
football career. Kinsey was able to provide protection for Sheehan and also showed off his skills at receiver as
he caught his first 2 TD passes of the season and two 2-point conversions. On the defensive side of the ball Kinsey
picked up right where he has been all season and provided constant pressure on the opposing team's QB. Kinsey also recorded
several tackles and picked up his 1st INT of the season which he took to the house for a TD. 2 offensive TDs and 1 defensive
TD as well as playing an unfamiliar position for the good of the team made Kinsey the Hero for Week 8. Due to the protection
Kinsey provided and the efficient routes the receivers ran, Sheehan was able to connect on 6 TD passes on the day including
one to every receiver. WR/CB John Hurley caught a TD pass and secured the team title for receiving TDs on the season
for the 2nd season in a row. Sheehan also scrambled for 2 rushing TDs, ending the season with a grand total of
37 passing TDs and 4 rushing TDs, leading the team in both categories. 6 passing and 2 rushing TDs as well as 4 successful
2-point conversion attempts earns Player/Coach Sheehan the Offensive Boobie of the Week award. The only dark cloud on
the day for Boobie Miles would be the sloppy 2nd half. After jumping out to a 40-6 halftime lead, fans in attendance
began to think Boobie Miles was going to pick up its 3rd mercy rule victory of the year. However, due to depleted
numbers, hangovers, and a drop in motivation due to the tremendous lead they had on a team they had beaten twice
before this season, the 2nd half effort was not 100%. That being said, the 2nd half earned the entire team
of Boobie Miles the Goat award for the game. Boobie Miles was able to pull out the W without C/DT Big
Pete Feeley, C Beef Geary, WR Craig Iverson, and CB Pazz. With the victory, Boobie Miles now rides the momentum
of a 4 game winning streak into the playoffs. Boobie Miles earned the #2 seed in the playoffs and has a bye
in the 1st round. Look for Boobie Miles next on November 19th in the semi-finals when the team looks to defend last
season's championship.
Game #7 -
In a much anticipated match-up,
Boobie Miles took on the undefeated Bengals in Week 7. The players of Boobie Miles have had this game circled on their
calendar since Week 3, when the Bengals were able to squeak by with a 32-30 win over a Boobie Miles team which was missing
a few key players. The game started off with Boobie Miles on offense and QB Sheehan led the team down to a score on
the first possession of the game, connecting with WR/SS Donavan on a TD pass. Boobie Miles jumped out to a quick 6-0
lead, but things started to turn sour in the first half due to some officiating problems. Boobie Miles defense came
out on fire and WR/CB Hurley intercepted the second play from scrimmage with a beautiful shoe string catch. However,
the refs claimed the ball hit the ground so the INT didn't count. The defense was able to hold the Bengals to a 3 and
out and did not allow them to gain one yard. But, when the offense came back on the field with great field position,
they were flagged for a questionable illegal procedure call which took the field position away and then Sheehan threw an INT
in the red zone on a jump ball where Hurley got absolutely molested in the corner. After a terrible non-pass interference
call, the Bengals were able to score and tied the game at 6-6. Boobie Miles offense battled back and scored another
TD, however, the TD was negated by the first of 3 consecutive illegal blocking penalties on C Big Pete. These terrible
calls brought Boobie Miles all the way back to their own goal line and they ended up turning the ball over on downs.
Big Pete was flagged for so many consecutive illegal blocking calls (all of which were nauseating calls) that he ended up
having to sit out for a 4 minute penalty. The Bengals again took advantage of the great field position and scored again
making the score 12-6. Once again Boobie Miles offense sputtered and the Bengals took the ball over at mid-field with
30 seconds in the half. WR/FS Captain Matt Trainor was able to make a tackle with 7 seconds left and the Bengals tried
to scurry to the line to get one last play off. They could not set up properly to do so, but the refs decided that since
Trainor did not hand the flag to the other team that the other team would be allowed to run a play and the Bengals were easily
able to score as the defense stood around confused. This call has never been made before in 2 seasons of Flag Football.
WR/CB Joe "Lockdown" Bolino argued the unprecedented call so adamantly that he also ended up on the bench serving a 4 minute
penalty. Non calls, terrible illegal blocking calls, penalty minutes, and made up rules were the reasons why the refs
were awarded the Goat for Week 7. That being said, Boobie Miles found itself in an unfamiliar position at halftime,
trailing 18-6. With the refs clearly against the squad, Donavan gathered the troops during halftime and told the team
"F*** the refs and F*** the other team. I know I am better than every mother f***er on that team". Boobie Miles
rallied around Donavan's words. After serving the suspension Big Pete came back with a vengence and the opposing team's
DT never came close to touching Sheehan again. Donavan was also able to back up what he said as he caught a second TD
pass and also took a lateral from the Broseph to the end zone totaling 3 TDs on the day. Sheehan battled throught his
vicious hangover, his overwhelming tiredness, the reminisce of blue paint still on his body, and the 12 point half time deficit
to throw 5 second half TDs. Sheehan hit Hurley for a TD as well as Trainor for his first two TD receptions of the season.
Captain Trainor was able to overcome last week's case of the drops and hold onto the ball in the second half and was looked
to in key situations. His 2 TD receptions earned him Offensive Boobie of the Week. Being able to throw 6 TDs in a
game and 5 TDs in one half as well as lead the team to the comeback victory earned Sheehan the Hero award for week 7.
Boobie Miles defense also turned it up a notch in the second half. Even though every member of the team had a hard time
actually pulling the flags, the Bengals were held to only 12 second half points. DT Kinsey picked up his third sack
of the season and applied constant pressure to the other teams' QB after battling with their center and Donavan was able to
come up with the only INT of the day. John Hurley was able to also have a record book performance in the game.
In a key situation when Boobie Miles was making its comeback Hurley recovered the first fumble recovery in the history of
Hockeytown Saugus Flag Football. Hurley caught the ball while it was live in mid air and saved a TD from scoring.
Being entered in the record books as well as numerous pass break-ups is the reason why Hurley took home the Defensive Boobie
of the Week award. Hurley also caught 3 two point conversions. This game came down to the tale of the two halves
where Boobie Miles outscored the Bengals 36-12 in the second half and pulled out the 42-30 victory. Boobie Miles handed
the Bengals their first loss without CB Pazz and WR Iverson. Look for Boobie Miles to end the season next week on
a high note against the REV and ride that momentum all the way through the post season.
Game #6 -
The 6th game of the season began with Boobie Miles
on offense and with only 5 players. SS/WR Donavan needed to step in at QB as starting QB Pat Sheehan was a tad bit late
to the game. Donavan led WR/CB Hurley, WR/CB Joe, WR/SS Trainor, & C/DT Big Pete Feeley down the field on 3
plays to connect on a TD pass to Hurley. With an early 6-0 lead Boobie Miles never looked back. Boobie Miles defense
helf "Capital Punishment" to a quick 3 & out and player/coach QB Sheehan was then able to take the field under center.
Sheehan went on to throw his first of 2 TD passes to Donavan. Due to depleted numbers Matt Trainor, who was previously
only playing defense as he rehabs his wrist injury from last season, made his offensive debut. Much like his first game
back at FS there was quite a bit of rust to shake off for the captain. Although, recording his first reception of the
season, Trainor had a hard time holding onto the ball. His drop on a beautifully thrown full field pass in the end zone
earned him the Goat award for Week 6. Minus Trainor's miscues at receiver, Boobie Miles offense was like a well oiled
machine. Big Pete held off any attempt of a rush by the other team as Sheehan continued to spread the ball on offense
and went on to throw a TD pass to Hurley, Big Pete, & Joe. Sheehan also scrambled for a TD on a fake reverse.
5 TD passes and a rushing TD earned Sheehan Offensive Boobie of the Week for the second week in a row. After recording
a shutout victory the week before, Boobie Miles' defense was out to prove that last week was no fluke. Boobie Miles
held "Capital Punishment" to 0 points for the first half. Defensive Boobie of the Week, Big Pete applied constant pressure
on the opposing QB and recorded his first two sacks of the season & his career. His pressure was one of the reasons
why every member of the starting secondary (Hurley, Joe, Donavan, & Trainor) all recorded an INT. The defense was
even able to put points on the board as FS Matt Trainor picked the ball off and lateraled to Donavan as he avoided a tackle.
Donavan than easily took the lateral to the house as the two safeties combined for a pick for six. Donavan's passing
TD, 2 receiving TDs, INT, and defensive TD were the reasons why he took home the Hero award for this week. The starting
DBs were quick to break up many passes and even took picks away from each other. When asked about taking a pick or two
away from Hurley as he interfered with him, the young Broseph was quoted as saying, "Dude, what do you mean, dude?".
Joey was not limited to being tangled up with his own teammates. On a failed 3rd down attempt on the goal line in which
a jump ball was deflected out of play, a member of Capital Punishment was frustrated that he was just outjumped by Joe
& Trainor. This fellow on the other team, considerably larger then Joeseph, displayed his feelings by chirping and
pushing "Lockdown". Joe decided to chirp back and got in the opposing player's face. This heated exchange almost
resulted in fist-a-cuffs, but luckily for all involved (mainly Joe, considering the other guy would have knocked him unconscious),
cooler heads prevailed. Boobie Miles was able to pull off the dominant 54-20 victory without DT Kinsey, CB Pazz, and
WR Iverson. The only area where Boobie Miles struggled was on 2-point conversions, where they were not able to convert
on any of the opportunities. Player/Coach Sheehan has vowed to devout the entire week to fixing this problem so look
for Boobie Miles to make a statement in the week 7 match-up vs. the unbeaten Bengals. All in all, a great team victory
as Boobie Miles picked up its 4th win of the season.
Game #5 -
Boobie Miles looked to rebound
from last week's debacle of the wrong game time which resulted in a forfeit. Player/Coach Pat Sheehan reinstated FS
Matt Trainor for the game as Trainor was previously suspended for Conduct Detrimental to the Team from the previous week's
actions. Team Boobie Miles was on a mission to make a statement and "The Rookies" were not ready for the beating they
were about to endure. The 5th game of the season started with Boobie Miles on defense. First play of the game
WR/CB John Hurley picked off the errant pass and returned the INT for a TD. Hurley followed this amazing start by picking
off the second play from scrimmage and again returning the INT for a TD. Just when you thought Boobie Miles could not
start any better Defensive Boobie of the week DT Kinsey recorded his 3rd sack of the year for a safety. Boobie
Miles quickly jumped out to a 14-0 lead before Offensive Boobie of the week QB Pat Sheehan could even attempt a pass.
With a commanding lead Boobie Miles never looked back. Sheehan was able to lead the offense on scoring drives every
possession for the offense. QB Sheehan spread the field and hit every WR for a TD. Hurley snagged 2 TDs, WR/SS
Donavan hauled in 1, and WR/CB Iverson also caught a TD. The offense was able to convert numerous 2-point conversions.
C Mike "Beef" Geary was easily able to hold off any attempt of a rush by "The Rookies" as no defender came within a mile
of the QB. Boobie Miles defense did not let down after its stellar start. Donavan, Iverson, and Hurley played
superbly on both sides of the ball and Hurley went on to have one more pick for 6 which resulted in a grand total of 3 for
the day. FS Matt Trainor also recorded his first INT of the season. Both Hurley and Trainor gave credit
to there INTs to the pressure that Kinsey applied on the QB all game long. All in all this was as close to a flawless
game from team Boobie Miles as they went on to a 50-0 mercy rule victory with 8 minutes to go in the first half.
On a day where you score on every possession and the defense only allows one 1st down, the only Goat could be a player who
doesn't even show up to the game because he is too hungover. CB Joe Bolino overexerted himselft Saturday night and due
to excessive vomitting he could not make the trip to Hockeytown in Saugus to make the game. Boobie Miles was able
to pull off the victory without CB Pazz, C/DT Big Pete, & WR Stanton (who may have retired or is being held captive
at Border Cafe, authorities are investigating into the matter). It goes without saying that Boobie Miles followed
up there forfeit loss with a dominant victory and sent a message to the rest of the league that there is a reason
why they are the defending champions.
Game #4 -
Well, how should I start this week's game report.
I know, Thanks Captain Trainor. His incompetence could not be matched this past Sunday when he traveled to Vegas to
put $1,000 bucks down on Boobie Miles winning the championship this season. The only problem was that when our Captain
heard the Delta Airlines Captain say, "We've landed", he cracked open a delicious alcoholic beverage and went to town.
As Sunday approached he called Interim Captain Joe Bolino & Coach Sheehan and told them that our game was at 2 p.m. EST.
As a team bound by grit and determination we took what our leader said without thinking twice and we were duped. Captain
Trainor was so discombobulated from the drinking, gambling, & not to mention the "working girls" in Vegas that he thought
our game was at 2 p.m. because while paying one of the these bonitas she mentioned that he owed $200 dollars. He mistook
that for, "Coach Trainor your game time is at 2 p.m." and he allowed his troops to be made fools of by showing up to an empty
stadium. Captain Trainor shouldered the blame for this one & hopefully didn't put too much money down on Boobie
Miles to win it all now that we are in a hole at 2-2. This foreit came against a team that Boobie Miles beat 54-0 in
the pre-season. Captain Trainor may be facing a lengthy suspension & hefty fine for his fau paux.
This story may have been highly exaggerated to make our fans feel the full effect that Team Boobie Miles felt on Sunday, but
on the other hand this could all be true because I don't even think Captain Trainor knows what happened in Vegas. What
happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, including this past Sunday's game time.
Game #3 -
Many wondered how Boobie Miles would
respond to the first loss of the season and the third game of the year did not have a stellar start. REV was able to
march down the field over the Boobie Miles D and strike the first blood with an early touchdown. Paparazzi leaked photographs
of team captain FS Matt Trainor, SS/WR John Hurley, CB/WR Craig Iverson, and DT Greg Kinsey out til all hours of the night
the previous two nights at the Holy Cross alumni weekend and these actions could have been the cause for the lackluster
start. Boobie Miles' offense also sputtered in the first half as well with goal line possessions that resulted
in zero points. The hero for game 3, Iverson, was able to finally get the scoring started for Boobie Miles,
but he put the 6 points on the scoreboard in an unconventional fashion; a pick for 6. Once Boobie Miles tasted
blood they never looked back. QB Pat Sheehan, who lacked mental focus early in the game due to story telling, connected
with star WR John Hurley for his first of two 2-point conversions. Coach Sheehan was so out of the game he
picked up a 5 minute unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and found himself pondering life on the bench. Luckily for
Boobie Miles, Iverson stepped in at quarterback and threw a TD pass to Hurley and a 2-point conversion to Big Pete as well.
Seeing Iverson's heroics lit a spark in QB Sheehan and when the penalty time was over the Sheehan of old emerged from
his daze. He went on to throw 2 TDs to Iverson, 1 to Hurley, 1 to Big Pete and multiple 2-point conversions.
Sheehan also showed off his speed when he scrambled for first downs as well as a TD run that spanned the entire length of
the field. Boobie Miles' defense was able to sweat out all the alcohol and return to form as DT Kinsey applied constant
pressure on the REV QB. There was not a member of REV who could block Kinsey and he picked up the first 2 sacks of the
season for team Boobie Miles. Kinsey's constant pressure earned this DT the defensive "Boobie" of the week award.
CB Joe Bolino proved why his nickname is "Lockdown" as he came up with multiple pass deflections and blanketed the opponents
WRs all game. Superstar WR John Hurley not only picked up 2 receiving TDs and the 2-point conversions he also stepped
up on defense coming away with his first INT of the season. Team Captain Matt Trainor returned from injury (broken wrist)
for his first game back at FS and the rust was evident. Trainor was beaten deep for a TD, flagged for a pass interference
call which negated an interception in our end zone, and also missed two critical goal line tackles. However, Trainor
was able to complete an entire game without getting seriously injured so that in itself is an accomplishment. QB Pat
Sheehan even stepped in on defense for a series and was able to pick up an INT on a 2-point conversion and outrun the entire
REV team to get 2 points on the board for Boobie Miles. Beef showed that he is still the most dominant lineman
in the league as Sheehan & Iverson went the entire game without being sacked once. The best story of the game was
the emergence of DT/C Big Pete as a versatile player. One would think a man named "Big Pete" would only be known for
his strength, but instead, he showed off his speed, agility, and hands as he played the entire game at WR. Big
Pete went on to have numerous catches, including a TD and a 2-point conversion. He proved what a team player he was
by stepping up and playing a foreign position and picked up the offensive "Boobie" of the week award. Boobie Miles was
able to pull off the win without CB Pazz, WR/SS Donavan, & WR Stanton, who were all unalbe to attend the game but they
were however there in spirit. All in all Boobie Miles responded in excellent fashion to the first loss as they picked
up there second win of the season in dominant fashion.
Game #2 -
The second game of the year started off quite
well for Boobie Miles with them scoring on their first drive of the game. From then on it was a shootout with the Bengals.
We tried new things said Coach Sheehan. New things being Pazz at DT for a play or even him playing SS for the rest of
the game. Coach Sheehan even tried his hand at DT. Iverson moved in to play CB and Donavan moved over to the other
side to play FS. There's not much to say about this game as Boobie Miles took one on the chin with a devasting loss,
their first in 7 games, dating back to last season's championship run. Everyone played pretty well with the exception
of Pazz, who was given the Goat award for the week. His pathetic excuses of "I never played SS before" or "I'm tired",
and "I want to go home and suck my thumb like my kid does" are getting quite old. He may very well be cut come Week
3. Donavan & Iverson had INTs, Sheehan threw 5 TDs, Pazz caught 2 TDs, Donavan caught 2 TDs, Joe tipped about 50
balls, "Big" Pete was a workhorse playing both sides of the ball at C & DT. Unfortunately, the occupants of 21 Carberry
Street in Medford (Kinsey, Hurley, & Trainor) as well as Stanton all missed the game. This game report was brought
to you by Modell's.
Regular Season Opener -
The 2006 Fall League Season
Opener started off fast with Boobie Miles holding the R.E.V. to a 3 and out. Boobie Miles struck first with a TD pass
from Sheehan to Hurley. This was Hurley's first game back from his contract holdout that cost him the entire pre-season.
Captain Trainor almost benched him for his lack of practice time due to the holdout, but instead allowed the All-Pro wideout
to play and it paid huge dividends. When we all thought Donavan had given everything he had in the pre-season he comes
out and shows what a true athlete he is. He snagged a couple TDs, a few 2 point conversions, & just kept the
defense guessing all game long with his Matrix-like moves. Last week's Goat Joe Bolino showed Captain Trainor that being
the Goat doesn't neccessarily have to be a full time job by playing both ways and making the defense throw to whatever side
he wasn't on. Future OL Beef was back in action after a pre-season of contemplating retirement and found out that playing
C is not all he knows how to do. Beef caught a TD pass & had two 2 point conversions as well. Rookie WR Mike
Stanton was allowed to strap on the flags for the first game of his career. He will be a force to be reckoned
with in the future, but for now this basketball star converted to wideout must learn that pushing off to get down
low on the block in basketball doesn't fly in football as he was flagged for numerous offensive pass interference penalties.
But, how can you say anything bad about a player who gets a 6 inch gash in his chin that needed 9 stiches and plays through
it, not I for one. There was, however, one moment that brought tears of joy to the eyes of Boobie Miles
followers, that was when Captain Trainor pulled a Willis Reed and came out of the tunnel to play with a broken wrist.
Even the refs couldn't believe their eyes when Trainor took the field. There really isn't much to say about this
hero except he helped energize Boobie Miles in their first game of 2006. He recorded a few tackles, broke up passes
, and even went against doctors orders to bring the team together for the victory. Coach Sheehan brought
his out of this world play to the grid iron once again connecting with Hurley for 3 TDs & scrambling for 1st downs
and taking advantage of a defense that refused to use the QB Spy package. Many team members were missing including last
week's Defensive Player of the Week Pazz, WR Iverson, DT Kinsey, & C/DL "Big" Pete Feeley. The first game
of the Fall League 2006 was W with the score being 44-30.
Pre-Season Game 1 -
There were many questions going into the exhibition
game to kickoff the Fall 2006 Flag Football season for Team Boobie Miles. Many wondered how Boobie Miles would respond
to the new uniform color, team captain FS Matt Trainor starting the season on the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) List,
and last season's league MVP WR John Hurley missing the game due to a contract dispute. However, QB Pat Sheehan started
just where he left off last season, throwing 5 TDs in which 4 went to different receivers. Donavan brought
in 2 INTs (one for a TD), caught 2 TDs, rushed for 1 TD, and grabbed 2 two-point conversions. Joe Bolino
may have been the lone dark cloud on a sunny day for Boobie Miles, missing 3 INT opportunities, although he declares "I broke
up all those passes", well we on the team would like to see a little more energy from this stellar CB. Rookie "Big Pete"
showed Boobie Miles why he was the # 1 draft pick in the fall of '06, piling up 10+ pancakes in one half. Pazz actually
held off from cursing and trying to be tougher then he is for one game to haul in 1 TD pass & snag 3 INTs (one
for a TD). Iverson, was heard by the crowd complaining about not wanting to play defense, which may put him on thin
ice with Captain Matt Trainor. Kinsey may have stayed most consistent from last season out of all Boobie Miles
members, his off-season workout is thought to be tougher then that of HOF WR Jerry Rice's. All in all I would have to
say that when you pummle a team 55 - 0 there are only good things to say.
